On the first Friday of every month artists and designers from Boston’s South End invite you to visit their studios and take a look at their newest designs and works of art. Amanda Gast of Proverb made her way to the First Friday on December 2 and came back to work on Monday ready to share her insights. After visiting several studios, one of the most lasting impressions came from Debra Folz’s workshop. Folz is a furniture designer whose works are innovative, unique and eye catching. Among many other items Folz showcased the Whole Story Photo Album. The album is not like any other photo album – it looks like a book-shaped sculpture, standing on its bend bottom corners. To retain this unique shape, the book’s covers are made of durable aluminum. The album has a removable spine, which allows it to unfold in accordion style and display a long strip of photographs. Take a look at the photographs of the Whole Story Photo Album, what are your thoughts on Debra Folz’s new twist on a traditional photo album?
